Local foodies, unite! Summer season means less tourists, and less tourists means more tables for us in the hottest restaurants! Thrillist recently blessed us (as it has the tendency to do, thank you Matt Meltzer) with a compact list of 17 NEW restaurants to try out in South Florida. Add these to your summer “to-do” list before the crowds start to pick up again in November.
The crowds are thinning and the humidity is thickening. What better way to escape the heat than theater-hopping through Miami’s plethora of cool, artsy film houses? Catch independent films from both established and emerging filmmakers in the Magic City. Miami Film Month lasts the entire month of June.
Is it possible to have too many mangos? File this under “problems Miamians enjoy having” (and we have a lot – our ice cream melts too fast in the hot sun, avocado season ends too quickly, looking at beautiful people all the time gets tiring…). If you are one of many lucky locals with access to a mango tree, you might be scrambling for ideas of what to do with all these mangos! Thank goodness the New Tropic decided to tackle the problem early.
It’s Thursday! What are you doing after work? Some will head to happy hour, others to the gym, maybe some to the beach for a swim. If you’re looking for another alternative, look no further! Check out Microtheater Miami. Wednesdays through Sundays, this artsy, laid back venue offers 15-minute plays in 15-person shipping containers. In English and Spanish. For $5. And there’s a bar.
A little dancing never hurt anybody. In fact, it helps! Fend off memory loss and burn the cals of the mojito you’re sipping on this weekend in Miami.
Who doesn’t like happy hour? Heading to your favorite hangout for discounted drink and food specials with your coworkers to complain about your boss is a favorite past-time of many. Perez Art Museum of Miami, better known to locals as PAMM, just made happy hour even more enticing by adding art classes, scavenger hunts with prizes, and live music sets to the traditional drink and food specials. Event extends to the Stephen Starr Restaurant Verde, overlooking Biscayne Bay. This month’s special is dedicated to Mexican Street Food. Mmmm. Tacos.
PAMM Third Thursdays takes place, you guessed it, the third Thursday of every month.
